FAQ’s

What are common bulk LP tank sizes?

-              The most common tank sizes are 6,000, 8,000, 12,000, 18,000, 30,000, 60,000, and 90,000 gallons. Although these are the most commonly found tank sizes on the used market, there are still a number of different options that are slightly less common.

How many gallons of LP are in a Semi-Tanker load?

-              The typical load of propane is 9,000 gallons give or take a few hundred depending on the size of the trailer and the weight of the tractor/trailer.

What size tank is needed to hold a Semi load of product?

-              Propane and NH3 expand and contract due to changes in the outside air temperature. In order to allow room for this, tanks cannot be filled to 100% capacity. A general rule of thumb is not to fill tanks over 80-85% depending on the product and the tank size. Because of this, an 11,000 gallon tank is the smallest tank that can fit a semi-load of product.

Which tank size is right for me?

-              Choosing the correct tank size to fit your needs depends on your expected volume of usage and the application. There are large price advantages to being able to buy product by the semi-load if one expects to use 9,000 gallons or more in a given year.

What do the Tanks sit on?

-              Dibble Enterprises pours pre-cast concrete piers at our facility in Gardner, IL. They are professionally engineered and fabricated to ensure they can handle the weight of the tank and the product it will hold.

What about Installation?:

-              Dibble Enterprises is a one stop shop for bulk tank installation. We handle loading the tank and piers, delivering them via semi, and installation of all valves and piping.

How do I prep the site for a new tank?

-              Our pre-cast concrete piers do not require any concrete work done by you. There is some excavation and gravel work that needs to be done. This is all detailed in our “site prep diagram” we provide our customers with.

What permitting is required?

-              Depending on which state the tank is being installed, the answer to this question can differ. Dibble Enterprises can assist the customer in all permitting needed!
